Dance booklet of The Gabinetto di Lettura Society

Founded in 1861 and located on the ground floor of Bajamonti’s Theatre, the reading room with the library Gabinetto di lettura was the first, and at the time of its founding, the only institution of this kind in Split. Due to the fact that soon the autonomist and pro-Italian orientation of the Gabinetto became obvious, the populists established their own institution as early as 1862 – the so called Slavic National Reading Room.
