Part of a CREIL dinner service set
These exceptional dishes (soup bowl MGS 1754, sauceboat MGS 1735, small oval plate MGS 1733, footed fruit bowl MGS 1738, round bowl MGS 1737 and mustard dish with a small spoon MGS 1736) comprise just a part of the large dinner service set which adorned the dining table of the family of Dr. Ivo Tartaglia - a lawyer,
erudite benefactor and mayor of Split - until 1948, when following the decision of Split’s NOO (Narodno-oslobodilački odbor or People’s Liberation Committee), the set was confiscated along with numerous other works of art from private collections, and entrusted to the care of the Museum of the City of Split.
