A poem dedicated to St. Duje (DOMNIUS)
A poem by an unknown author dedicated to St. Domnius, dating from the end of the 18th century, part of the Capogrosso-Cavagnin archive. Saint Dujam, in Latin Domnius, a martyr from the 3rd-century A.D., and the patron saint of the city of Split, surely represents the spiritual axis of the city. For centuries Split has festively celebrated his Saint’s day, 7th May (the city’s feast day), when liturgical ceremonies, cultural, economic, sporting and entertaining manifestations are organized.
