Julije Bajamonti (1744 - 1800), a Split polyhistorian, physician, and composer is one of the most notable enlighteners not only in Dalmatian, but also in the entire Croatian history. He was engaged in literature, poetry, linguistics, translation, history, ethnology, ethnography, archaeology, bibliography, philosophy, meteorology, physics, chemistry, economy, agronomy, medicine and music leaving behind a multidisciplinary bibliography.
