The vellum document of the fraternity of St. Roch
The first church dedicated to St. Roch was built in Split at the Peristyle, in 1516. It was constructed by the citizens of Split who used their own money for that purpose. The great Croatian poet Marko Marulić contributed to its protection. A second church was built in the second half of the same century, dedicated to the same saint, in Split's suburb Lučac, and it was first mentioned in 1603.
