Majolica pottery (or tin-glazed pottery)
The fragments of ceramic vessels take the most significant place among the artefacts from the Basement of Diocletian’s Palace (1968-74), not just in terms of quantity, but also of quality. In the thick layers deposited throughout the centuries, one is able to ‘’read’’ the history of ceramics, among which the beautiful Renaissance and Baroque majolica plates and jugs/pitchers boast of a special quality.
