Albert Papalić
Among the ranks of the aristocratic families of Split, there were talented writers and intellectuals, who at times of distress and in their own ways, strived to offer help to their city. Among the last members of the Papalić aristocratic family of Split, whose Palace nowadays houses the Museum of the City of Split, Albert (1648 – 1721) stands out in particular.
Together with his brothers Franjo and Sigismund, he owned large estates, which he even increased after the liberation form the Turks, receiving as a reward for his contributions to the country particularly the ones around the mouth of the river Žrnovnica. His favourite summer estate was Nehaj, in Kaštela or Kaštel Papalić, which belonged to the family from mid-18th century.
