Oficiy B. Marie D.
Matija Matulić Alberti
Reflecting the population's adversity and sentiments, exhausted by the constant number of hostile sieges, the number of church vernacular works at that time grew. Thus, the work dedicated to the Service of the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose printing and publishing was approved by Pope Pius V, was created at the end of the twenties of the 17th century.
It is interesting to read on the cover of the book, that the book …was faithfully translated from Latin…into the Slavic language… by the nobleman and vcitegl of Split, Matija Alberti. The text, printed in two colours on some five hundred small-format-pages, is occasionally accompanied by copperplate engraved illustrations.
