A set of furniture from the Senjanović’s drawing room
1909
The pursuit of the modern technological and stylistic treatment of furniture was present in the local production of furniture from the early 20th century. Nevertheless, the first examples of Art Nouveau in Split are actually imported from Vienna and mark the individual’s avant-garde progress in interior design.
The fact that very few pieces of furniture from this period have survived, adds further significance and importance to this fully preserved set of drawing room furniture, which was produced by the local carpenters workshop Mato Senjanović&Co.
