Medieval house
In the period of the Early Middle Ages, by inhabiting of fugitives from Salona and building of the new houses, the Diocletian palace transforms into the medieval city. Valuable material evidence of those times is a medieval house inside of the complex of the Great Papalic palace – Split City Museum.
Despite a lack of specific style elements, it was dated in the 9th to 11th century on the basis of the construction method. It is the typical example of Early Medieval city house with storeroom or shop in the groundfloor, sleep chamber on the first floor and a kitchen with a fire place on the top floor.
