A poster on the occasion of the opening of the theatre

The poster announced the grand opening of the new Municipal Theatre in Split, on 6th May 1893, and the performance of the Drama Society of the National Theatre of Zagreb.

For this purpose, a few days earlier a favourite among Croatian actors arrived in Split, Adam Mandrović who visited and praised the new theatre. A special prologue in the verses of Juraj Kapić was recited, and the Demeter’s play Teuta was performed with great success. That time Mandrović was brought back to the stage six times.
