A candleholder of the Zvonimir Choir
In the beginning of 1884, a group of young people came up with the idea to establish a choir. The founding committee met in February, and in March it announced its goals and urged the citizens to join Zvonimir.
The first annual meeting was held on Sunday, 19th April, in Šubićeva Street on the premises of the Cultural and Educational Society Slavic Progress (, in the Tartaglia Palace. Zvonimir’s first teacher arrived in Split already in May – the young Slovenian composer and conductor Jakob Tece.
