Šišana rifle
Powder flasks were replaced by cartridge boxes (Croatian fišeklije, nabojnjače or pripojasnice) in the 17th century when rifle loading developed and became simpler. Powder and pellet were now a single unit, compacted together by a paper wrapper.
This was the invention of cartridge; a musketeer would bite off the upper part with the pellet, pour the powder into the barrel, throw in the paper and the pellet and press it into the barrel with a rod. Cartridges with powder and lead rifle balls were kept in metal boxes of Oriental or West-European origin.
