Balkan rifles

In the Split City Museum’s collection of arms, there are a significant number of arms of oriental origin, or those made under an oriental influence. These are in the literature often named Balkan arms. However, the term is not considered official as such in the Balkan Peninsula. Terms such as Arnaut, Balkan, Albanian and Montenegrin are used instead for the ethnic groups or regions of the Balkan Peninsula.
