Lobster-tail helmet
The lobster-tail helmet was common in Hungary (cat. no. 214 - MGS 3208). The helmet has Oriental origins, from the Ottoman chichak helmet (Turkish çiçak). European Christian countries embraced this type in the early 17th century. A similar type of helmet was worn in the late 17th century by Polish winged hussars and the Prussian cavalry.
The capeline held at the Split City Museum is a typical capeline, but with a slightly narrow lobster tail.
