Battle-axe

The battle-axe, wagoner’s axe or doloire is a weapon with a wide, curved blade sometimes decorated with perforations and a large blunt axe head fitted onto a wooden shaft. A doloire could have been used both as a weapon and as a tool. In an attempt to thrust through increasingly firmer armor, the doloire acquired various shapes and additions: spikes, beaks and wider, bulging and extended wings.
