Powder flasks
Powder flasks were an indispensable accessory for any soldier using a firearm. The old Chakavian word for a powder flask is prašnjača or smudnjača, i.e. smudnik. In the early 17th century the musketeers would, along with a matchlock rifle, carry up to fourteen little powder flasks on a single string, each with just enough powder for a single firing.
The Museum collection holds four flasks of the type featuring an affixed instruments to measure the strength of the gunpowder.
