Wheellock rifle

The first wheellock mechanism emerged in the early 16th century in Nürnberg, Germany, and it was used rather widely in Germany and some parts of Italy in the first decade of the 16th century. In the 1520s the matchlock also spread throughout the rest of Europe where it remained in use, along with the flintlock, up until the first half of the 18th century.
