Flanged mace
In addition to maces with rounded flanges, there were flanged maces with triangle-shaped flanges, believed to be of Turkish origin. One such type of flanged mace has been dated to the 16th century, or more precisely around 1550–1560, as German work, another one as 16th-century Genoan work, and some have even been dated to be late 14th-century Venetian work.
The identical type of flanged mace in the Split City Museum collection (cat. no. 135 - Inv. no. 3194) has been dated to the 16th century and has been designated as having originated from workshops in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
