Rapier

The rapier is a military weapon for the cavalry which was used as a thrusting weapon, initially for cutting as well, and it was fully in use at the beginning of the 16th century. It was used in fencing, for training, and in the arming of civilians (nobility). In the 16th century the rapier became the weapon of the nobility, a symbol of the owner’s high status and his sword-handling skills.
